Russia is intensifying its cooperation with Cuba in the field of agriculture

Including provides for cooperation in terms of prevention of spreading animal diseases

Deputy Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Evgeny Gromyko held a working meeting with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Republic Cuba in Russia Emilio Lozada Garcia.

In the course of it discussed in particular the question of cooperation between the two countries in the field of animal health. The Russian side has urged to intensify work on the draft Russian-Cuban cooperation Agreements on this subject. Its purpose is to create favorable conditions for trade subject to veterinary control goods (animals, genetic material, etc.), and the prevention of the introduction into the territory of the parties to the diseases.

"The draft Agreement was considered by Russian experts to reflect the latest changes in legislation of the EEU countries and is generally consistent with the interests of both countries", — said Evgeny Gromyko.

In addition, the meeting discussed the issue of Russian participation in the project of restoration and development of the citrus industry of Cuba, which can assist in the particular delivery from Russia of agricultural and transport machinery.

Evgeny Gromyko reiterated the country's willingness to facilitate this project. Cuban colleagues, in turn, expressed readiness to expedite the consideration of proposals of the Russian side concerning the nomenclature and terms of supply of agricultural machinery. The parties recognize the importance of addressing financial support for the project and agreed to continue work in this direction.
