Deployed by Cuba's Government, the Henry Reeve Contingent brigade is concluding disaster relief activities in Peru's northern areas.

As is known, the Andean country —mainly the northern regions— was at the mercy of "Coastal El Niño" phenomenon characterized by heavy rains, landslides and floods.
Thus, the medical brigade arrived in the Inca country on March 31 with the purpose of assisting Peruvian citizens affected by the onslaught of nature.
Said foreign mission —which specializes in disasters and serious epidemics— is composed of 23 epidemiological specialists.
Each health care professional relies on the appropriate medical equipment, so the group is able to assist 20,000 victims every month.
As part of relief measures, the team is also focused on monitoring diseases such as dengue fever, leptospirosis, respiratory and skin conditions, among others.
In addition, the delegation brought a batch of medicine, including antibiotics, oral rehydration solutions, anti-inflammatories and water chlorination tablets.
It must be noted this is the third time Cuba expresses its solidarity to Peru in natural disaster events.
The Central American nation previously helped Peru in 1970, when an earthquake destroyed Ancash city, and in 2007, when another earthquake hit the central coast.
