Denunciation of the hardening of the US economic, trade and financial blockade of Cuba was included in the final statement of the Continental Period for Democracy and against Neoliberalism, which concludes today in this capital.

'Imperialism intensifies its attacks against the processes maintained by governments with orientation to people,' read the document that will be approved today in the plenary of convergence and some the points of which were announced to the news agency Prensa Latina by organizing committee sources.

As an example, it presents the permanent destabilization and attacks against Venezuela and the 'hardening of the criminal blockade of Cuba' that 'takes back the process to normalize its relations with the United States' reestablished in 2014, during Barack Obama's Administration.

It also refers to the measures against Nicaragua, the sabotage by the right to the performance of the Salvadorian Executive and the permanent pressure on the Bolivian Government.

The text also reads that the US Government is trying to regain its imperial influence on the region and for that, it is applying an interfering policy, with serious attacks against the sovereignty of different countries, using all the diplomatic, economic and military means at its disposal.

The militarization strategy, expanding the military bases and the presence of troops with 'humanitarian exercises' conceal the intention of territorial control over the region's strategic common goods, the document read.

They called in the document to build unity, to be able to face up the reactionary conservative and fascist wave that the far-right forces, together with the important economic groups and the media at its service, are imposing throughout the whole region.

Yesterday, the event, to which more than 2,000 representatives of people's struggles in the Americas, paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban revolution Fidel Castro, in political-cultural ceremony.
