PAHO Highlights the Importance of State Investment in Health
State investment in health is an essential element in the responsiveness to health emergencies, stated the representative of the PAHO, Enrique Pérez, at the 9th Cuban Congress of Microbiology.
During a keynote, the official of the Emergency Department of the Pan American Health Organization, celebrated that Cuba invests 11 percent of its Gross Domestic Product to the sanitary area.
He added that Cuba is one of the nations of America and the Caribbean that invests most of its economy in health. Pérez pointed out that the economic investment in this sector will be proportional to a greater detection of health emergencies.
The PAHO representative considered that this work still needs to be improved, but the countries of the region are on the right track.
