Tourist authorities informed on Sunday that they are analyzing the possible implementation of new recreational routes in eastern Cuba, an extremely colorful area demanded by foreign travelers.

A report from the Cuban News Agency (ACN) shows the opinions of the delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in Granma province, Magalis Tornés, who said that those steps are being analyzed for excursions and knowledge of the territory.

It is about establishing new routes in which the history and the beauty of the place are intertwined, above all the Sierra Maestra mountain range in that region.

She added that with that objective, a group of experts in ecotourism are examining the untapped potentialities of the mountainous area in Granma province, where the revolutionary struggle from 1956 to 1959 took place.

Establishing strategic alliances with other tourist destinations in the eastern region, such as Santiago de Cuba, Holguin, Guantanamo and Las Tunas, is one of the strategies in the territory, she said.

Those plans seek to promote national and international tourism this year.

Tornés explained that among the routes that should begin to work soon, one is related to the life and action of Argentine-Cuban Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.
