Tropical Storm Alberto has formed over the western Caribbean Friday, to become the first named storm of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season. The National Hurricane Center said Alberto will bring heavy rainfall to the Yucatan Peninsula, Western Cuba, Florida and the Northeastern Gulf Coast over the weekend.

The storm is currently about 55 miles south of Cozumel in Mexico and about 195 miles southwest of the western tip of Cuba, the NHC said in its latest advisory. It has maximum sustained winds of 40 miles an hour.
