Havana, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuban specialists reported on the stability of the evolution of Maylén Díaz, survivor of the May 18 plane crash in this capital, but they reported their condition was still very serious and with a reserved prognosis.

Dr. Carlos Alberto Martínez Blanco, director of the General Calixto García university hospital, explained that the patient is able to request food and continues to breathe without the need for equipment or supplementary oxygen, according to the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

She is conscious, oriented, in active interaction with the environment, family members and doctors, he noted.

He also noted that with the intensive management of the team of specialists, her vital functions work in a process of reorganization and adaptation to the new conditions.

Specialists advance in the control of infections in several of their injuries through the use of medications, he added.

However, Martínez Blanco reiterated that there are conditions under monitoring and surveillance due to their unpredictable behavior with risk for the appearance of complications.

In addition to Diaz, two women survived the tragedy that occurred a few minutes after the departure of Boeing from the Mexican company Damojh of the José Martí International Airport, but they died in the hospital center.

The accident left a death toll of 112 people (101 Cubans and 11 foreigners, including six members of the Mexican crew).
