Speaking at the official inauguration of the 9th FEU Congress at Havana's Convention Center, Palmero ratified to the top leadership of the revolutionary process that began in 1959 that they can count on the university students, because there is an organized vanguard.

Here is the Cuban youth. This congress is of the entire people (...) Let us keep up with the history that precedes us and the heroic people of whom we are a part. We are children of the Revolution, the student leader told 400 delegates and 100 guests attending the congress.

Palmero noted that unity, selflessness and commitment must guide the working sessions of the congress, which will close tomorrow.

The congress, which is attended by the vice president of the Council of State and minister of Health, Roberto Morales, and the ministers of Culture and Higher Education, Abel Prieto and Jose Ramon Saborido, respectively, among other leaders, opened with a symbolic roll call of the FEU martyrs.

On Friday, the young delegates marched from Fragua Martiana, which pays tribute to Cuban National Hero José Martí, to the University of Havana in order to honor the martyrs of the organization.

At the university steps, they reaffirmed their support for the Revolution and its historic leader, Fidel Castro, and the organization's commitment to the ideals of independence.

The FEU was founded in 1922 by the revolutionary leader Julio Antonio Mella, with the mission of uniting Cuban university students, representing their interests and exercising their rights.
