Cuba''s permanent representative to the UN, Anayansi Rodriguez, reaffirmed today the deep concern of her country about the growing danger posed by the existence of nuclear weapons.

When speaking at a session of the General Assembly dedicated to the issue, the ambassador expressed great alarm at strengthening the role of nuclear weapons in defense and security military drills.

All this could put humanity on the verge of a nuclear conflict with disastrous repercussions, she warned.

In the framework of the commemoration of the International Day against Nuclear Tests, Cuba reaffirms its position against these tests, stated the diplomat and highlighted the disastrous consequences of such practices.

My country is honored to have been the fifth state to ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons and, in this way, to express its support for these efforts, she said.
