More Than 28,000 Brazilians Traveled to Cuba This Year

More than 28,000 Brazilians have traveled to Cuba this year, which ratifies this South American nation among the top 20 emitting markets for the island, sources of the sector told Prensa Latina today.

According to preliminary statistics, until Sept. 6 there were 28,127 Brazilians visiting Cuba, 13.12 percent more than in the same period last year, said Tourism Councilor Mariano Fernandez.

Thus, Brazil was at number 17 among the main tourist markets for the island and also consolidated the highest growth among the countries of the southern America and the second in Latin America, in this latest case, surpassed only by Mexico, which recorded an 18 percent increase in its issuance.

Among the South American countries, added the diplomat, Argentina is the one with the most visitors, with about 76,500, followed by Chile (35,511) and Colombia (29,345).

Until last September 6, Cuba had received more than 3,320,000 international visitors, most of them (more than 835,000) from Canada, its main issuing market.

During this period, the cruise ship and mega yacht tourism market stood out, with more than half a million passengers arriving via this route, which represented an increase of 44.88 percent compared to the same period in 2017.
