Diplomats from Cuba and the Bahamas have ratified today the interest of both Caribbean countries in consolidating bilateral cooperation in strategic areas, according to official sources.

During a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Barbados, Darren Allan Henfield, and the Cuban ambassador to the country, Ismara Vargas Walter, both reviewed the issues on the common agenda and agreed on the excellent state of mutual relations.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the officials reiterated the will of their countries to strengthen the exchange in the areas of education, health, agriculture and national security.

During the talks, the Barbados Foreign Minister considered the exchange of Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez with Caribbean leaders to be positive during the 39th regular meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community held in Jamaica last July.

Cuba and the Bahamas established diplomatic relations on November 30, 1974.
