Cuba offers Myanmar implementation of Triangular Cooperation Programme

Cuba is now offering Myanmar implementation of Triangular Cooperation Programme (Cuba-Myanmar-Luxembourg Programme), according to the Ministry of Health and Sports.

Cuba and Myanmar will cooperate on health promotion activities under a tripartite Cuba-Myanmar- Luxembourg programme.

Myanmar also informed Cuba about health activities which would be carried out as a first priority.

Dr Myint Htwe, the Union Minister of Health and Sports, discussed the exchange of medical experts when he met February 22nd with Cuban Ambassador to Myanmar, Hector Conde Almedia.

The Cuban ambassador later shared information about Cuba’s expertise in fast-track bio-education programmes, vaccine production, cancer treatments, universal access to free medical treatment for Cuban citizens, and education.

Dr Myint Htwe attended the International Convention of Public Health “Cuba Salud- 2018” held in Havana of Cuba from April 23rd to 27th. During his tour, the Health Minister observed Biotechnology and Healthcare Services Centers such as National Centre for Oncology, Tropical Medicine Institute, Centre for Molecular Immunology, Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Vaccine Institute and Primary Health Attention Centre.

The Health Minister also held the discussions about re-opening of Master degree Courses for Public Health and Administrative Affairs and academic learning issues with the Directors General from Human Resources Department, Public Health Department , Rectors, Professors, Lecturers and Demonstrators from the University of Medicine on November 27th last year.
