Experts from this eastern Cuban province will discuss the new urban agenda and sustainable development during the International Convention on Territorial and Urban Planning, to be held soon in Havana, official sources said.

From October 1 to 5, the delegates from Guantanamo, Cuba, will show the experience achieved by physical planning workers in the territory.

Territorial planning in Maisi municipality, in Cuba's easternmost tip, rural and urban land registry and other research works related to the environment are some of the issues to be debated at the event.

The objective of this international convention is to confront ideas regarding the fulfillment of the new urban agenda and sustainable development in terms of upgrading the specialists who joined the practice of territorial and urban planning in the country, the official website of the event posted.

This responds to the interest of giving a special treatment and attention to territorial and urban planning, as part of the policies to comply with the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, as well as other international conventions and agreements.

Regional and urban planners, designers, teachers, academics, researchers, environmentalists, specialists in built and natural heritage, cartographers, sociologists and lawyers who can share methodological experiences, analyses, techniques and spatial intervention projects, will participate in the convention.
