President Diaz-Canel Visits Cuban Stand at Shanghai Fair

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel began on Tuesday his visit to China with a tour around the Cuba''s stand and other countries attending the first International Exposition of Imports in Shanghai, an important commercial platform.

The president confirmed the multisectorial exhibition of his nation and talked with officials about the development of the event, which is attended by more than three thousand local and foreign companies.

Cuba participates with emblematic products such as honey, tobacco, rum and coffee, but also promotes its potential in fields such as energy, mines, medical services, telecommunications technologies and biotechnology.

Díaz-Canel also visited Venezuelan, Bolivian, El Salvador, Russian and Chinese stands, where he was invited to try out innovative domestic equipment.

He then visited a technology park in Shanghai to learn about the advances in the sector shown by the municipality, known as the financial heart of China.

Diaz-Canel arrived here this Tuesday and was greeted with high honors at Hongqiao airport.

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Cuban Ambassador Miguel Angel Ramirez, Chinese Ambassador in Havana Chen Xi and local Vice Mayor Chen Qun welcomed him.

This is his first official visit to China since he took office and includes talks with the host president, Xi Jinping, and the other three leaders of the state and parliament.
