Members of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba (MINFAR), local authorities and members of the diplomatic corps accredited on the island commemorated on Wednesday the 101st anniversary of the triumph of the Great October Socialist Revolution.

The participants in the ceremony, held in the Mausoleum to the Soviet Internationalist Soldier of this capital, placed floral offerings and remembered the transcendence of the historical event for the future of humanity.

When speaking, the second head of Direction of the MINFAR, general of brigade Ernest Feijoo, assured that the Great October Socialist Revolution constituted an example to follow for other exploited countries of the third world.

It marked a new era in the struggle for a better future and illuminated the emancipation path of all the oppressed, he said.

For Cuba, this event has a special meaning. It is enough to remember the words of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, when he said that this process in the Caribbean nation was possible because much earlier there was a Russian Revolution, he added.

In this mausoleum, where lie the remains of internationalist fighters of the peoples of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, we express our gratitude and recognition, added Feijoo.

For his part, the Ambassador of Belarus in Cuba, Alexander N. Alexandrov, stressed that people should not forget their history, because this is essential to know where you comes from.

Also present at the ceremony were the Azerbaijan business manager, Javanshir Salehov, the charge d'affaires of Kazakhstan, Azamat Abdraimov, and the advisor of the Russian embassy, Sergey Y. Reshchikov.

Among the Cuban authorities were the head of the Directorate of MINFAR, General Jorge Luis Mendez, and the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Fernando Gonzalez.
