Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived in this capital on Thursday to carry out an official and friendly three-day visit during which he will meet with the main Vietnamese leaders.

At the Noi Bai International Airport Diaz Canel was welcomed by Vietnamese Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, and Cuban Cuban Ambassador here, Lianys Torres, who will join his delegation.

They also include the Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas; the Ministers Bruno Rodriguez (of Foreign Affairs); Jorge Luis Perdomo (of Communications); Alfredo Lopez (of Industries), and Raul Garcia (of Energy and Mines).

Likewise, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rogelio Sierra; the first Deputy Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodriguez, and the director of Bilateral Affairs of the Foreign Ministry, Emilio Lozada.

Tomorrow Friday, the Cuban President will meet with his Vietnamese counterpart and secretary general of the Communist Party, Nguyen Phu Trong; the Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and the head of the National Assembly, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Reasons for work apart, his visit has a high sentimental value given the close friendship that for almost 60 years the two historical peoples cultivated between their historical leaders, Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh.

Precisely one of the first activities that Diaz-Canel will fulfill here will be to lay a wreath before the mausoleum that keeps the remains of the architect of independence and national reunification.

A similar gesture will be before the Monument to the Heroes and Martyrs of War.

His intense agenda in Hanoi includes reviewing with his hosts the progress of trade, economic and cooperation ties between both countries with the intention, part and par, of raising them to the level of excellence that all these years have had political relations.

The signing, tomorrow, of a new trade agreement that will govern the operations of the countries in this field during the next few years will decisively contribute to this.

On Friday, the Cuban president will attend a forum with local businessmen.

Diaz-Canel plans to travel to Ho Chi Minh City (about 760 kilometers south of Hanoi) on Saturday, the most populous city in Vietnam and its main economic, industrial and financial center.

He will be in Vietnam until Saturday and then he will depart to neighboring Laos.
