Bolivian President Evo Morales recalled on Sunday the legacy of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, and the validity of his work on the second anniversary of the revolutionary leader''s death.

Born in Biran, province of Holguin, on August 13, 1926, Fidel Castro led the struggle of the Cuban people against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista and then for the consolidation of the revolutionary process, the economic and social transformations of the country, the development of education, health, sports, culture and science, defense and confronting external aggressions.

He strategically directed the participation of hundreds of thousands of Cuban fighters in internationalist missions in Algeria, Syria, Angola, Ethiopia and other countries, and promoted the contribution of tens of thousands of Cuban doctors, teachers and technicians who have served in more than 40 nations of the third world.

It also promoted the integral programs of Cuban health assistance and collaboration in many countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and the creation in Cuba of international schools of Medical Sciences, Sports, and Physical Education and other disciplines for students from underdeveloped nations.

It also promoted on a world scale the battle of the Third World against the current international economic order, in particular against the external debt, the waste of resources as a result of military spending and neoliberal globalization, as well as the efforts for unity and integration. of Latin America and the Caribbean.
