Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted today how essential is unión for the peoples and referred to the meeting held here by the Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of Our Americas - Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP).

The eve, Havana welcomed the 16th Summit Alba-TCP, in which representatives of the member States agreed to increase efforts to strengthen integration and unity inside diversity of the region, before the threats to peace and stability by forces of the right commanded by the United States.

The meeting signed a final declaration with an action plan to consolidate the regional bloc.

The text contains the commitment of building a new international order, more democratic, inclusive, just and equitable, in which sovereign equality between States is effective and respect to free determination of the peoples.

According to the document, only unity will give Latin American and Caribbean nations will give them greater capacity to face the interference and political, economic domination of global powers.

In the gathering, Diaz-Canel called to close ranks in defense of the progressive governments of Nicaragua and Venezuela.

Political subversion, economic aggressions and their social impact, together with constant threats to use force, put peace in danger and security of the region, he said.

Healso exposed the achievements of the Bolvarian Alliance,like the millions of people who recovered their eyesight with free surgeries for their ophthalmologic woes.

Meanwhile, his Venezuelan peer, Nicolas Maduro, called to boost social programs of ALBA and advance to a model capable of achieving economic Independence.

To continue struggle for the liberation of the region and achieve peace with social justice as the best tribute to the revolutionary leaders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, main boosters of ALBA-TCP, stressed the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales.

Other leaders of the region also rendered tribute to Chavez and Fidel and thanked for the emergence of the platform 14 years ago as alternative to the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) (ALCA in Spanish), a neoliberal proposal of the United States that pretended to break the sovereignty of the Latin American and Caribbean nations.

After that, in the act for the 14th anniversary of the integration bloc, headed by the First Secretary of the Central Commitee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raul Castro, Maduro assured the alliance is alive, but, at the same time, called its mwembwers to strengthen that platform of concertation, cooperation, unity and solidarity.
