New Constitutional Project Proposal to Go to the Cuban Parliament

The Vice President of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, Parliament), Ana María Mari Machado, affirmed today that a new proposal for the Constitution of the Republic of Cuba will be presented to the deputies.

In exclusive to Prensa Latina, the legislator informed that the Commission that drafted the new Magna Carta has not stopped working, which made it possible to prepare a project proposal that will be presented to the Parliament.

It meant that it was enriched by the suggestions made by the people during the debate period of the preliminary draft from August 13 to November 15.

Mari Machado pointed out that this is why this assembly has a very special meaning for all Cubans because 'we are defending the present and the future of the country.'

She indicated that, as is traditional in the December sessions, parliamentarians will approve the State's plan and budget for 2019, for the economic, political, social and cultural stability of the nation.

Deputies to the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba began two days of debates on Sunday in the 10 permanent commissions on issues of economics and socioeconomic development, the behavior of services, defense, among other aspects.

Next Friday will be the second session of the IX Legislature of the National Assembly of People's Power, in which it is expected that the deputies approve the constitution that will be submitted to a referendum in February, in which it will be approved by the majority of the Cubans, would replace the one in force since 1976.
