Havana, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz Canel strongly condemned the attempt to impose an interim government in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on behalf of the United States on Twitter social network.

'We condemn and reject vigorously the attempt to impose, through a coup d'état, a servile government to #EEUU in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. We ratify the invariable solidarity with the Government of the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro. #SomosCuba', the head of state wrote in his account @DiazCanelB.

The day before, the chancellery of the island said in a statement that the true objectives of the actions against Venezuela are to control the vast resources of that sister nation and destroy the value of its example, as an emancipation process and defense of the dignity and independence of Our America

The statement also reviews several aggressions against the South American country, including the 2002 military coup, the 2003 oil coup and the assassination attempt against Maduro last August.

On Wednesday, the Venezuelan head of state announced the rupture of diplomatic relations with the United States, after Washington recognized the self-proclaimed interim president of Venezuela and head of the National Assembly (Parliament in contempt), Juan Guaidó.

Venezuela has the right to self-govern in a free and independent manner, Maduro emphasized, at the same time calling the claims of the opposition and the US government of leading Venezuela to an internal confrontation a very serious irresponsibility.
