Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described as ''interventionist and arrogant'' recent allegations by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo against Cuba at the UN Security Council.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, the President also described as slanderous and arrogant that Pompeo referred to Cuba as meddling in Venezuela's affairs.

Diaz-Canel also said that these allegations will crash against the decision of nations to be independent and sovereign.

'Accusations totally interventionist, slanderous and arrogant that will come up facing the decision of the peoples that will never give up their independence and sovereignty. #SomosCuba #SomosContinuidad,' the President posted on his account @DiazCanelB.

Diaz-Canel also posted a message from Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, in which he categorically rejects Pompeo's statements in that international forum.

The Cuban diplomatic head described them as slanderous and said that this attitude by the secretary of State intends to attack Venezuela's democracy.

In addition to predicting the failure of that U.S. maneuver, Rodriguez said that Pompeo uses the slander against Cuba to justify the coup d'Etat against the democratic government of President Nicolas Maduro. The Cuban foreign minister denounced the leading role of Washington in the plan against the Bolivarian executive.
