The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that Tehran is ready to offer any kind of help needed to Cuba after the Latin American country was hit on Sunday by the severest storm in the past 80 years.
Iran offered humanitarian and medical aid to Cuba which was hit by the devastating tornado and torrential rainfall on Sunday, killing three and injuring over 170.

In a statement today, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi, expressing regret over the tragedy in Cuba, said "Iran is ready to provide the affected people of Cuba with whatever relief aid necessary."

Iran and Cuba are enjoying very strong relations as both countries share a history of hostile pressures from the US.

Earlier this month, Tehran and Havana signed 6 MoUs to expand mutual cooperation in areas of sports, medicine, farming, vaccine production and pharmaceuticals at the end of the two countries' Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in the Cuban capital city.

Iranian Deputy Health Minister Mohsen Assadi Lari headed the Iranian delegation who visited Havana in mid-January to attend the 17th Iran-Cuba Joint Economic Cooperation Commission, sign mutual cooperation documents in various fields and hold meetings with the Cuban officials.

In a related front, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani cabled a message to his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel on January 01, highlighting the need for the expansion of bilateral relations between Tehran and Havana.

I hope that Iran and Cuba will expand their mutual cooperation in the future," President Rouhani said in his message, congratulating his Cuban counterpart on the occasion of the anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

"We are happy that the Cuban government, with the support of people, has firmly resisted against all the conspiracies, threats, and sanctions over past 60 years, becoming a symbol of resistance against the Domination System,” The Iranian president added.
