Cuba guarantees an inclusive, equitable and quality education, said today president Miguel Diaz-Canel in his closing speech of the 16th International Congress Pedagogy 2019 in the capital''s Convention Center.

Diaz-Canel asserted the Caribbean island cannot be ignored when one refers to education and in that sense he talked about the literacy campaign and the updating courses which followed to raise instruction level of the people.

Barely two years after the triumph of the Revolution on January 1, 1959, Cuba was declared territory free of illiteracy, recalled the head of State before delegates of Latin America, Asia, Europe, Africa and the United States.

Diaz-Canel ratified the New Constitution reinforces all that, added the President when expressing his confidence that next February 24, the magna carta will be ratified by the popular referendum.

He also stressed the validity of the legacy of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro (1926-2016) for being one of the driving forces of the development of education in the Caribbean nation.

Referring to the event, he said it showed the best experiences of respect to diversity and identity of each nation in education. For Cuban education it is the most important scientific event.

On the other hand, Diaz-Canel rejected the interference in domestic affairs of Venezuela, the attempts to destabilize the government led by Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua and demanded the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the U.S. to Cuba.

He also reasserted the permanent will of Cuba to cooperate and exchange experiences.

We keep betting that a better world is possible and the basis of that hope is education, he concluded.

For the last five days, Pedagogy 2019 analyzed issues such as education in citizen values for a culture of peace, challenges and perspectives in teaching formation, public policies in science, technology and innovation for an inclusive and sustainable development.
