A large group of Cubans headed by Ambassador Rodolfo Benitez on Saturday expressed solidarity with Venezuela at the Cuban Embassy in South Africa, where they signed a book denouncing the US interference in the Bolivarian Republic.

The maneuvers by the Donald Trump administration to overthrow the constitutional government of President Nicolas Maduro were condemned with banners, flags from the two countries, revolutionary songs and a speech by Ambassador Benitez, a representative of the collaboration mission of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, and Venezuelan Consul in South Africa Amber Chacon.

The Cuban diplomat said that the sovereignty and dignity of Latin America and the Caribbean and the peoples of the South are decided on Saturday in Venezuela.

'It is defined if the legitimacy of a government emanates from the express and sovereign will of its people or from the imposition by foreign powers,' he said.

In light of the Venezuelan people's resistance against the coup d'etat, the U.S. government has intensified its international political and media campaign and it has stepped up its economic coercion, including billions of US dollars belonging to Venezuela and the theft of income from oil sales from Venezuela, he noted.

Benitez added that similar acts of support for Venezuela are taking place in all regions in South Africa where Cuban collaborators provide services in Health, Water Resources, Education, Construction and the Armed Forces.
