Cubans Keep Voting Abroad on Constitutional Referendum

The referendum on Cuba''s new Constitution continues on Sunday in several countries, an exercise in which diplomats, cooperators and students already voted in over 100 nations on Saturday 16.

According to the Foreign Ministry's Special Electoral Commission, set up especially for the occasion, Cubans working or studying in 112 countries, of 130 where ballot boxes were put up, have already voted on the new Constitution passed by the National Assembly last December after four months of consultations with the people across the island.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlighted that the referendum abroad for Cubans in State missions, working in cooperation projects and studying has been transparent and successful.

The vote in Cuba will take place on Sunday 24 for which 8 million people are illegible to cast their ballots.

During the consultation process, people made 780,000 proposals, most of them were accepted and incorporated to the letter of the Constitution by Parliament's Writing Commission.
