Housing Delivery Begins in Cuba 22 Days after Tornado

The Cuban government begins homes delivery to the people affected by the tornado that severely hit several municipalities in Havana, where the construction works led by state entities along with the people is currently intensifying.

Education Minister Ena Elsa Velazquez posted on Twitter: 'The capital is still recovering, housing delivery will begin, schools and other institutions affected by the phenomenon will be open.'

After the passing of the January 27 tornado, contingents such as the emblematic Blas Roca Calderio construction group and cooperatives are involved in the construction of houses, rehabilitating premises for homes and repairing sites affected by the natural phenomenon.

Cuban Vice President Ines Maria Chapman recently supervised the work the procedure offices are carrying out to provide attention to the population affected by the tornado.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel called to give priority to the response to the housing problem caused by this phenomenon.

The President insisted on going to the detail in the affected communities so that no damage is left to identify, and focused on guaranteeing the quality of the technical data of each affected house, to avoid mistakes and resolve the problems created by the tornado.

After the tornado, more than 7,800 houses were damaged, 730 of them are totally collapsed and almost 1,000 are partially damaged, the most affected municipalities were Regla, Guanabacoa and Diez de Octubre.
