Cuban president pays tribute to Comandante Juan Almeida

Cuban President Miguel Díaz Canel recalled the late revolutionary Juan Almeida Bosque on the anniversary of his 92nd birthday, February 17th.

Taking to his Twitter account, the Cuban leader highlighted the courage of the decorated hero of the Republic, and his work in defense of social justice, which continues to be an example for present and future generations of Cubans.

Diaz-Canel also recalled Almeida’s artistic talents, who wrote various books on Cuban history and composed over 300 songs.

Comandante Juan Almeida was born in Havana on February 17, 1927. He died in September 2009 at the age of 82.
