Cuban Youth with New Options to Train Professionally

The Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba has already started a study modality for the young people of the Caribbean island, where now they can also choose the short cycle senior technician.

It is an intermediate and necessary school level between the baccalaureate and the degree, which will solve specific problems of the economy and society.

This year, the students who finish the 12th. Degree (bachelor) may choose - in addition to university careers, for some of the eight thousand 543 places of the short cycle programs.

This new modality of Higher Education studies began in the current school year (2018-2019) with a reduced offer of options.

The specialists explained that it is about the training two or three years of a senior technician.

Of the total of places, five thousand 830 correspond to health specialties; two thousand 83 for teachers of different subjects; and 30 for superior technician in networks and computer security, these sections will only be studied in Havana.

While 600 are for senior technician in Customs and will be studied in the provinces of Artemisa, Havana, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Ciego de Ávila, Camagüey, Holguín and Santiago de Cuba.

The young graduates will be able to request among their ten options the short cycle programs that are offered in the entrance plan, said the Juventud Rebelde newspaper.

Those students who do not pass the entrance exams or do not apply to them will have the option to request the programs offered in each territory for the Higher Education Level of Short Cycle.
