'A Victory for Latin America': Cuban President Diaz-Canel Votes on New Constitution

President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel, exercised his vote a little after 8:40 a.m. local time this Sunday morning on the day when his country goes to vote on ratifying their new Cuban Constitution.

In the place, The president gave a statement at the polling area saying this electoral process and the new document represent a victory for Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as for Venezuela, a country in which the "dignity and independence of the region" is currently being discussed.

Diaz-Canel highlighted the participation of young people during both the constituent assemblies and in their roles as poll overseers this Sunday, congratulating them on doing their civic duty. There are 200,000 children and young students who will be in charge of the polls this Feb 24.

Minutes before, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also exercised his right, announcing on his Twitter account that he voted for the continuity of the Cuban Revolution. "I defended a Constitution that is the result of a collective project with a ‘Yes,’ which reaffirms the will of the majority, and which protects the future of my family and of the heroic people ratifying the independence and sovereignty of socialist Cuba.

Similarly, Vice President of Cuba Salvador Valdes Mesa also became part of the constitutional process early Sunday.

The Cuba-Venezuelan Brotherhood

The Cuban president also denounced the acts of violence and staged false flag attacks carried out by the opposition Saturday on the Colombian-Venezuelan border with the objective of holding the same to the Government of Nicolás Maduro and justify a coup in that nation , sister of Cuba.

In addition, he criticized the meeting between the leaders of Colombia and Chile, along with the U.S. Senator from Florida who is of Cuban origin, Marco Rubio; and the self-proclaimed president of the National Assembly of Venezuela in contempt Juan Guaidó, whom he accused of having a "lack of dignity."
