Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez demanded on Monday that the so-called Lima Group strongly oppose military action against Venezuela, in the middle of escalating hostility of the United States against that country.

If the so-called Lima Group does not now modify the draft Declaration imposed by the U.S. and does not strongly oppose a U.S. military action against Venezuela, it will assume a serious historical responsibility of being accomplice to a new imperialist war in Our America,' he warned on Twitter.

Rodriguez set the island's position in the context in which the group created to accompany Washington's anti-Venezuelan crusade meets in Colombia, attended by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence and self-proclaimed President Juan Guaido, spearheading the goal of achieving regime change in Caracas.

Last week, Cuba warned that the United States was seeking to impose on the Lima Group a statement accusing Venezuela of preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, in the event that it could not violate the border of the South American country on Saturday, as ultimately happened.

According to Foreign Minister Rodriguez, Washington would include in the text a condemnation and dangerous terms in the context of the search for pretexts for a military intervention, among them 'putting at risk the life and integrity of Venezuelans', the call to 'rebuild the State and an International Conference with IMF and WB' and the elimination of the mention of 'peaceful transition without the use of force'.
