Cuban President Evaluates Housing Repair Program

Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, evaluated today the progress of the national housing program, one of top priority for development of the Caribbean nation.

At the government meeting were examined the supply of building materials for the program and the sale of these to the population, as well as actions to eliminate deficiencies in this aspect.

According to the Minister of Construction, Rene Mesa, at present all the alternatives are being evaluated to eliminate the deficit of building materials and guarantee the continuation of the program

At the meeting were also informed on the persistence of deficiencies in the transportation of cement to the eastern provinces and the Isle of Youth.

The arrival of iron silos made in Russia and their readying should favor the distribution of building materials in those territories from Ciego de Avila, stated the press release.

The President called to work in order to have a real impact of those materials and achieve to reduce their time of operation.

He also called to put an end to bureaucratic mechanisms in the process of legalizing homes once finished, by the Institute of Physical Planning.

The head of State also called to double efforts to make progress in the housing national policy and prioritize with a thorough analysis, checking construction plans during the visits made to all the territories.

He highlighted as positive the experience of Havana in the construction and repair of houses damaged by the January 27 tornado.
