Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Relations has asserted on Monday the Government is working tirelessly for the safe return of the two doctors who were kidnapped days ago in Kenya.

On its Twitter account, the Ministry highlights statements made by President Miguel Diaz-Canel over the weekend, who stressed the commitment to gain the release of Assel Herrera and Landy Rodriguez, who are an internal medicine doctor and a surgeon.

The Public Health Ministry reported on April 12 about the kidnapping of the two Cuban physicians who were cooperating in Kenya, and added communication channels had been set up with Kenyan authorities to solve as soon as possible the situation.

Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also reported he had talked by telephone with his Kenyan peer, Monica Juma, about ongoing actions.

Rodriguez gave assurances the rest of the Cuban doctors in Kenya are well and informed about the steps being taken to attain the release of their colleagues.
