A New International Order is Critical, Cuban FM Asserts

The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez, considers critical and essential the establishment of an international economic order characterized by being participatory, democratic, equitable and inclusive.

'After centuries of exploitation and looting, the industrialized countries have a moral duty and a historical responsibility to the countries of the South', the Cuban Foreign Minister posted on Twitter.

Rodriguez's message coincides with Tuesday's Third Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Regional Conference on Social Development in Latin America and the Caribbean, in Santiago de Chile.

The gathering precedes the third meeting of the Latin American and Caribbean Forum on Sustainable Development, held at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) headquarters in Chile.

Cuba has convened the meeting as full member chairing since 2018 the Plenary Committee of ECLAC, a United Nations commission.

Organizations from civil society in the region will also meet this day to discuss the implementation, follow-up and regional review of UN Agenda 2030.
