The achievements of the Cuban maternal and child care program are among the topics of the XVII Congress of the Cuban Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in which experts from 16 nations participate.

The previous year, the largest of the Antilles reached for the second consecutive year the lowest infant mortality rate in its history, 4.0 per thousand live births, thanks to the performance of health professionals in doctors' offices, hospital services and intersectoral support in health actions.

A scientific-commercial fair will allow national and foreign institutions, laboratories and firms to exhibit their products, equipment, technologies and literature.

Until next June 21, at the Convention Center of this capital, gynecologists, obstetricians, endocrinologists and intensivists, among other specialists, will discuss topics such as sexual and reproductive health, care of the infertile couple and current diagnostic means.

Among other novel topics of the specialty will be maternal-fetal and perinatal medicine, obstetric violence, maternal mortality, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, climacteric, menopause and pelvic disorders.

At the same time, the 10th Congress of Perinatology and Family Planning, the 7th of Gynecology for Children and Adolescents and Adolescent Reproductive Health, the 7th of Climacteric and Menopause, the 7th of Ultrasonography in Gynecology and Obstetrics and the 6th of Pathology of the lower genital tract and colposcopy will be held.

The 'Eusebio Hernández' Prize will also be awarded to the best scientific work on basic research, statistical or epidemiological aspects and/or clinical studies.
