The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, taking into account the proposal of its President Miguel Diaz-Canel agreed to promote Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca to vice president of the Council of Ministers, the daily Granma reported this Wednesday.

Tapia, with a bachelor's degree in Economics, served since 2008 as First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Cuban Communist Party in Ciego de Avila province, and from September 2012 occupied the same position in Camagüey.

Likewise, it was agreed to relieve Ulises Rosales del Toro, of proven leadership capacity, from the post of vice president of the Council of Ministers with the purpose of devoting himself to the enhancement of the plant-based protein program designed by the Commander in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, an activity that he manages due to the results obtained and the potential of the project.
