Belgrade, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) The Mayor of Belgrade, Zoran Radojicic, received on Friday the Cuban Ambassador to Serbia, Gustavo Trista del Todo, who presented him with an official invitation to participate in the events to mark the 500th anniversary of the founding of Havana.

The invitation, signed by the President of the Provincial Assembly of People's Power of Havana, Reinaldo Garcia Zapata, was delivered to the Palacio Viejo, seat of the capital's Assembly, built in 1884 by the Obrenovic dynasty.

During the talks, Radojicic expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be present on such a significant date which corresponds, he said, to the positive state of relations between the two countries.

He added that it is a favorable opportunity for the exchange of experiences with Cuba in the solution of similar problems that affect both capitals.

For his part, Trista del Todo explained the work being undertaken for the occasion, despite the intensification of the aggressiveness of the US government against the island.

In this context, the Cuban ambassador referred to the application of the Helms-Burton Act in its entirety, with its extraterritorial implications, and the genocidal policy of trying to prevent the arrival of oil to the country.

He affirmed that these are unprecedented actions in the history of the confrontation and hostility of the US government towards his country.

He emphasized the presentation in November of the Cuban resolution at the United Nations General Assembly entitled 'Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba.'

The diplomat expressed his certainty of the support of the vast majority of member states, including Serbia, as has occurred on the 27 consecutive occasions on which this resolution has been voted.
