Gastroenterologists from some 10 countries will participate here in the 7th International Congress GastroCuba 2019 to discuss the treatment and early diagnosis of digestive diseases, one of the leading causes of death in the world, according to its organizers.

Specialists from Peru, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, the United States and Cuba will attend the event, which will take place at the Havana Convention Center from November 22 to 25.

'Together for better digestive health' is the slogan of the meeting, which will focus scientific debates on issues related to the management of liver diseases, childhood gastrointestinal disorders and early diagnosis of gastrointestinal cancer, a condition that ranks fourth among the causes of death from tumors in the Americas region.

The 6th Symposium on Hepatology and Liver Transplants and the 6th National Meeting on Pediatric Gastroenterology will also be held in parallel to the Congress, as well as the First National Meeting of Therapeutic Endoscopy of the Digestive Tract and the First National Workshop on Quality in Digestive Endoscopy.

In a press conference, the Cuban Society of Gastroenterology announced that the Congress will see in this edition the participation of specialists from the Latin American Society of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Pediatric Nutrition, as well as members of the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver.

The President of the Organizing Committee, Mirtha Infante, assured that the event is of great importance for Cuban specialists to establish, from the scientific point of view, the means for the diagnosis of gastrointestinal diseases and the latest surgical methods used worldwide.

At GastroCuba 2019 each topic will be addressed through keynote lectures, symposia, panels and round tables.
