Participants in Anti-Imperialist Event: Unity is Essential to Defend Ourselves from Imperialism

During the debates of the commission Democracy, Sovereignty and Anti-Imperialism  of the Anti-Imperialist Event defined that unity is the trench to withstand the United States and its lackeys.

The commission said that the true enemy is the White House, which promotes policies of popular disunity and the institution of civil governments as part of their expansionist mission.

Socorro Gómez, president of the World Peace Council, said that a democratic model based on mutual respect does not interest the imperialism, which is only concerned to having the necessary workforce with the purpose to generate greater wealth for a small sector of the citizenship.

Undemocratic forces have been unable to end the  process and advance in Latin America, he said.

He also praised the winning method of Alberto and Cristina Fernández in Argentina, triumph that ended Mauricio Macri΄s government, a puppet of the US administration and the IMF.

On the other hand, Maritza Espinales first vice president of the National Assembly of Nicaragua reflected on the unity in America Latina which she described as indivisible.

“We must defend the revolutionary model - the Cuban, the Venezuelan and Nicaraguan models - all of them lead to a state of welfare without importing  its specific policies and the organizations that comply with them.

She also called to apply the declaration of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

In the debates it was also highlighted Cubaˊs spirit of resistance, an island that has endured the hostility of the United States for over 60 years and it was reaffirmed the support to the legitimate government of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.

Tom Colton, representative of the indigenous network Alliance for Environmental Justice of the United States, referred to the historical resistance of the Native Americans, while condemning the worsening of the blockade by Donald Trump’s administration.

During the talks it was  defended the acknowledgement of the historical Palestine's borders and the disapproval of the U.S. position to incite and support the occupation of their territories by Israel.

The Anti-Imperialist Meeting brings together more than a thousand delegates, which will discuss until tomorrow issues related to biased neoliberal policies of right-wing governments, the unity efforts of the progressive forces and the support to Cuba to demand the elimination of the blockade.
