Training in the management of renewable energy sources is the main objective of the experimental photovoltaic park of the Microelectronics Research Center, opened in Havana as a result of a tripartite project with Mexico and Germany.

According to Cuban news agency »ACN«, more than 60 solar panels were donated by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development to the Technological University of Havana Jose Antonio Echeverria (CUJAE).

The park is the result of cooperation dating back to 2015 in which 130 Cuban specialists have been trained for optimal management of solar panels. Martha Delgado, vice-rector of the Technological University, said that »the park will contribute to the professional training in three specialties and encourage research in renewable energy and energy efficiency,« says the article.

It is expected that approximately 24 percent of the country's electricity generation will come from renewable energy sources, and thus comply with the National Economic and Social Development Plan until 2030.
