"On this day, we are paying tribute to Amilcar Cabral and this allows us to always remember that there were Cubans who gave their lives and who stayed there in Guinea Bissau, for us to be independent," Simoes affirmed.

On Friday, the Prime Minister of Guinea-Bissau, Domingos Simões, called to strengthen links with Cuba. Simoes is currently on official visit in Cuba.

"Let's work together, to cooperate in all areas that are of interest to both countries," Simoes said after presenting a wreath of flowers at the bust of revolutionary leader and hero for the independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, Amilcar Cabral.

"On this visit, we will analyze several aspects, such as health, agriculture and topics such as shipbuilding, among other areas that may be of mutual interest," he continued.

Following the tribute to Cabral in the African Heroes Park in Havana, Simoes expressed his nation’s appreciation for Cuba and the Caribbean nation’s selfless solidarity with the African people in their struggle for independence.

"You Cubans made efforts to help us and were always present in the preparation of our nation and government," he emphasized.

"On this day, we are paying tribute to Amilcar Cabral and this allows us to always remember that there were Cubans who gave their lives and who stayed there in Guinea Bissau, for us to be independent," Simoes affirmed.

During his stay in Cuba, Simoes will talk to Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel among other activities.
