Council of Minister concludes visit to Cienfuegos

Cienfuegos, February 15 (RHC) The Council of Ministers concluded its visit to the central province of Cienfuegos Friday, with a recognition of the work carried out last year by its economic, educational, cultural and service entities.

Summing up the second governmental visit, President Miguel Díaz-Canel praised the closed cycle of productive chaining achieved by some units of the sugar industry and the saving of more than 16 thousand liters of fuel achieved by the coffee company of Cumanayagua.

The Minister of Economy, Alejandro Gil, discussed the compliance and growth that must be operated in the retail trade circulation, where the trade and gastronomy entities have a lot of weight.

In this regard, Gil warned of the challenge that the territory of Cienfuegos has for 2020 because it must capture in its plan about 290 million pesos above what was done last year.

Jorge Luis Tapia, Deputy Prime Minister, noted the arrears in accounts payable and receivable and the need to improve managers' skills in the business improvement activity.

He also mentioned delays in investments in the food industry, specifically in the Cereal Processing Plant whose construction began in 2014 and is not yet concluded.

For her part, Inés María Chapman, Deputy Prime Minister, gave an overview of the water supply situation and mentioned the progress of the rehabilitation of the Paso Bonito- Cruces canal, which benefits five municipalities in the province.

At the end of the meeting, the President called for greater savings, the rational use of resources, to improve the training of personnel and highlighted the enthusiasm he observed among the people of Cienfuegos and their decision to continue to move forward.
