The director of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), Santiago Muñoz, donated on Monday the Pan-Hispanic Dictionary in Legal Spanish to the Faculty of Law, during his visit to the University of Havana.

Considered a jewel of specialized literature, the work will enrich the bibliographic heritage of this renowned institution of higher education in Cuba and will serve for the cultural enrichment of students and professors of law.

In statements to the press, the Spanish writer and historian highlighted the 'admirable' work of the Cuban Language Academy and the support provided by the island's authorities in promoting the proper use of Spanish.

The also president of the Association of Spanish Language Academies expressed his willingness to cooperate with Cuba in any way possible.

During the visit, Santiago Muñoz was awarded the status of Distinguished Professor of the Faculty of Law of the University of Havana.

Yesterday, Sunday, President Miguel Diaz-Canel received the director of the RAE, a meeting also attended by the Historian of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal, and the president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto.

Muñoz acknowledged the work of the Cuban counterpart institution and the dedication with which it works, despite the scarce resources.

Cuba is the first stop on a working trip by the RAE director, which includes Panama, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and the Dominican Republic.
