Cuban Doctors Administer 2 Thousand Eye Surgeries in Paraguay

The Cuban doctors, who work in the locality of Maria Auxiliadora in the Department of Itapúa, over 430 kilometers from the capital city, has improved or returned the sight of many poor Paraguayans and at a the same time this result has welcomed Latin American Medicine Day, on December 3.

The joint conference to take place on December 6 will be attended by experts, local government authorities and territorial coordinators of the medical program along with Cuban ambassador to Asuncion Juan Domingo.

The program includes presentations on issues related experiences on the application of eye-treatment procedures. The head of the Cuban medical mission in Paraguay, doctor Carlos Alberto will open the forum, which will also present the Cuban strategy to prevent eye blindness and other eye conditions in Latin America.

The Cuban eye-surgery program known as Operation Miracle, its results and benefits will also be high on the forum's agenda.

The forum will be held at the Cuba Center and is considered to be an important initiative to boost bilateral cooperation between specialists from the two countries.
