The Cuban researcher and writer Larry Morales won the Walter Rela Doctor Award, granted by the Academic Society of Latin American Historians, based in Mexico, it was reported here. Morales, who lives in the central province of Ciego de Avila, was recognized for his career as historian and head of the Nicolas Guillen Foundation, as well as for his hard work in the educational and academic spheres.

He was also given the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, granted by this institution and the Academy of Modern Literature, due to his professional life, work in defense of history and efforts to bring it closer to the Cuban youth through his writing.

Likewise, he was appointed president of the Cuban Chapter of the Academy of Modern Literature, a position that he will also have in the Academic Society of Latin American Historians.

The most prominent works of Morales include "Enrique Varona, el hombre de las mil huelgas", "El jefe del pelotón suicida", "Tirarle piedras al mar", "Medio Milenio por Morón" and "Máximo Gómez al oeste de la Trocha", as well as other testimonies and historic research.
