“It is a first and small step (…), but I am not satisfied”, said to AFP Lagreid, a heavy Habano-cigar smoker who has visited Cuba many times and likes to write on cigars.

“The fact is that several people in the U.S. like to smoke Cuban cigars, one way or another,” added Lagreid, who tried to maintain his cigar upwards in order to avoid the ash to drop.

This is the first great feast of tobacco’ lovers after the historical announcement made by president Obama and Raul Castro on the restoration of diplomatic relations after half a century.

Obama also authorized U.S. travelers to take away 100 USD in rum and cigars after visiting the island in January. Habanos S.A. does not believe it will represent a significant increase in the demand.

Marc Needelman, Connecticut lawyer (63 years old), toured on Thursday the Festival’s stands. He labeled it as “one of the best of its kind in the world.”

Obama’s authorization “is the first step in the right direction, but 100 USD means only few cigars (three big Cohibas, or ten Montecristo number two)”, Needelman complained. He “adores Cuban rum, music, and cuisine”.
