Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel highlighted the good relations between his country and Venezuela after arriving here today to attend the homage ceremony in the second anniversary of the death of Hugo Chavez.

Commander Hugo Chavez was and is an honest friend, and in the opinion of Fidel Castro, he was the best friend that Cuba has had, said Diaz-Canel after arriving in Venezuela.

Diaz-Canel was received by Ricardo Menendez, vice president for Planning and Knowledge and People's Power Minister for Planning of the Bolivarian Government, and Cuban Ambassador Rogelio Polanco.

The vice president highlighted the level of the bilateral relations,something that is expressed in the mutual cooperation, materialized among other forms of aid, in the presence of around 40,000 Cubabn collaborators in the South American country.

Diaz-Canel will attend the ceremony to honor Chavez at Cuartel de la Montaña (Barracks on the Mountain), where the mausoleum that keeps the remains of the Venezuelan Bolivarian leader.

The ceremony to honor the late president, considered among the greatest Venezuelans of all times, will be held at 4:25 pm, local time.

The Cuban delegation is also composed by Minister of Energy and Mines Alfredo Lopez and the vice ministers of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Rogelio Sierra Diaz and Roberto Lopez, respectively.
