Cuban Biotechnology at Int''l Fair Health for All

HeberBiotec, a company that sells products and projects from the Cuban Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), stresses with stand at the International Fair "Health for All" that concludes today in this capital. The entity closes a cycle of research, development, production and commercialization of biotechnological products to enhance agriculture, aquaculture, and environment health.

According to engineer Maylin Palmero, business executive of CIGB, the center has more than 50 projects in the research-development stage, and over 11 products concluded, governed by good manufacturing practices and comply with international regulatory standards.

In the framework of this fair, HeberBiotec pretends to identify new trade partners. Its leading product is Heberprot-P, lyophilized that promote scar of complex diabetic foot ulcers.

With 23 health registration and more than 30 patents, this product was applied to more than 169,000 patients, and scientific publications show the relative decrease of amputation risk by 71 percent.

Another member of wide range is Heberon Alfa R, an important modifier of biological response with anti-viral, anti-proliferative and immunomodulating effects.

Also on the list is Heberbiovac HB, for the active immunization against infection by Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and the prevention of potential consequences, such as acute and chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver and primary hepatocarcinome.

HeberBiotec also promotes Hebervital, a granulocyte colony stimulating factor. This product restores the number of white blood cells, reduces incidence of infections and improves the quality of life of cancer patients.

Also included is HeberFERON, a synergistic combination of IFN-alpha 2b and recombinant gamma to treat tumors in non-melanoma and brain skin. A product on research.

The 13th International Fair "Health for All" will be closed today at Pabexpo fairgrounds, with awards for the best products and technologies.
