Celebrating Gerardo Hernández’ 50th Birthday at Home

For more than a decade, Cubans and hundreds of friends all over the world have been celebrating on June 4th the birthday of Gerardo Hernández in a thousand different ways.

Messages of encouragement in the hope that someday he will return home always were received in the US jail where he was doomed to spend the rest of his days for he was unjustly serving there two life, plus 15 years imprisonments.

Today Gerardo is celebrating his 50th birthday. He was just 33 years old when he was put behind bars in Miami for the only crime of confronting terrorism in the United States. However, neither prison, time nor injustice could take hope and humor away from him.

Once back in Cuba, his best birthday present is to hold his small daughter Gema in his arms, as a product of his love for Adriana.

Gerardo turns 50 years of age and a sizeable amount of these years have been completely dedicated to serve Cuba. So, the whole nation embraces him today. His happiness is shared with millions of Cubans and hundreds of friends from all over the world.
