Cuban President Raul Castro, concluded his intensive work program at the United Nations, where he participated in high-level forums and held meetings with world leaders and US personalities.

This morning, the president of the island met with US President Barack Obama, with whom he discussed the bilateral approach process, seeking to move towards the normalization of the relations.

The Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez told reporters that during the meeting, Raul reiterated they will not be able to talk about normal relations as long as the blockade imposed by Washington on the island persist, as well as the occupation of part of Cuban territory in Guantanamo Base and other hostile acts such as the illegal radio and television broadcast and the destabilization plans against the Caribbean country.

Since his arrival in New York, last Thursday, Raul Castro attended and participated in important meetings, including the UN Summit for the adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, the high-level debate of the General Assembly and a forum dedicated to driving gender equality and women's empowerment.

In addition to Obama, the leader of the island spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin; Venezuelan, Nicolas Maduro; French, François Hollande; Belorussian, Alexander Lukashenko; and Mozambican Filipe Nyusi, and Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven.

He was also received by the Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon, and led the ceremonies of establishment of diplomatic relations with Palau and the Marshall Islands.

During his stay, he also spoke with US society personalities, including former President Bill Clinton, congressmen such as Patrick Leahy, Barbara Lee, James McGovern, Charles Rangel and Jose Serrano, as well as with businessmen and solidarity activists.

Yesterday,Raul Castro held a lively meeting with the staff of the Cuban Permanent Mission to the United Nations.

'I couldn't leave without meeting you people", said the president in a hall of the embassy.
