Cuba and Azerbaijan to Strengthen Bonds

The friendship between the peoples and governments of Cuba and the Republic of Azerbaijan and the willingness to bring those ties to the highest level was expressed today in this capital, during celebrations for the National Day of the Eurasian country.

Javanshir Salehov, the Azeri charge d'affaires in Havana said that despite the great geographical distance, the two countries are very close due to their close ties of cooperation and fraternity.

During celebrations for the date at the headquarters of the Friendship Center, the diplomat expressed his confidence that these historic relations will deepen, in both the bilateral and the multilateral areas.

Gladys Ayllón, director of Europe of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, thanked the Eurasian country for its support, in which hundreds of Cuban professionals in different specialties were trained.

As part of these bonds, she mentioned the existence of friendship groups in both parliaments, in addition to the close economic and technical cooperation in the fields of pharmaceutical and oil industries, and also in sports and culture.

Likewise, the official stressed the Azeri support in favor of the lifting of economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over half a century, as well as of the sovereignty of the Caribbean country and against imperial interference.
